Make your own punch easily – beetroot, apple and orange punch recipe with and without alcohol

On very cold days, not even a sweater and warm socks help to keep the cold out. There has to be warmth from the inside! A great heat dispenser that sweetens the gray winter days is a homemade punch. With our beetroot, apple and orange punch recipe, we cover all the variants you are looking for, whether classic Christmas punch or non-alcoholic children's punch or punch with alcohol.



Punch has been drunk since ancient times. Wine was heated and sweetened with honey. Even today it is hard to imagine the cold season without hot drinks: tea, coffee, hot chocolate, but above all fruit punch and mulled wine, which await us in countless variations at the Christmas market. We would like to share a special recipe idea that can be conjured up quickly and easily at home: beetroot, apple & orange punch


This can be made either without alcohol or with red or white wine - so there is something for every taste (and every age). The fine punch is great as a Christmas punch or as a New Year's punch, which gives you cozy warmth from the inside when you're watching the fireworks outside. You don't need much for this, but the classic punch spices such as cloves, ginger and cinnamon are particularly important. You can of course adapt our recipe to your taste and add other spices such as aniseed and turmeric.


You need these utensils to prepare the delicious punch

In addition to a large pot, you will need a cutting board, a sharp knife and a cooking spoon, as well as a juicer and a ceramic grater.





The recipe: beetroot, apple and orange punch

(non-alcoholic and with alcohol)


Ingredients for about 4 cups

  • 2 ½ beets

  • 3 apples

  • Thumb-sized ginger (fresh)

  • 4 oranges

  • 1 stick of cinnamon

  • 4 cloves

  • 330 ml water or apple juice (naturally cloudy)

  • 500ml red or white wine (optional)

  • 1 tsp turmeric (optional)

  • 2-3 teaspoons honey (optional)


Children's punch recipe without alcohol:


  1. First grate the piece of ginger into a pulp. Sort out the remaining fibers by hand.

  2. Now juice the beets, apples and 3 ½ oranges with the juicer. The remaining half orange can be peeled and sliced.

  3. Depending on your taste, put either 330ml water or apple juice in a saucepan and mix with the ginger puree and the freshly squeezed juice from the apples, oranges and beets. Bring this to a boil and then turn the heat down.

  4. Now add the cinnamon stick, cloves and orange slices. Alternatively, you can also add aniseed, turmeric and other punch spices at this point. To sweeten the punch, add 2 to 3 teaspoons of honey or brown sugar, depending on taste.

  5. Simmer over medium heat for about 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Scoop into preheated cups and enjoy!


Alternative Christmas punch recipe with alcohol:


  1. To do this, carry out all steps from 1 to 5.

  2. In order not to let the wine boil away, it should always be added at the end. Then simply let it steep for another 2 to 3 minutes and pour into preheated cups - Cheers!
